The Apple Watch SE in my opinion is Apple's best smartwatch they've released, and it's the least expensive except for the Series 3. At only $279, it has a built in heart-rate sensor, tracks your fitness, and there are many apps to buy. But it lacks some features like the Blood Oxygen app, and always on display. But the SE is perfect for somebody who is getting the Apple Watch for the first time or if someone is upgrading from older Apple Watch models. If you have the Apple Watch Series 5 or 6, you probably can hold off from getting a new Apple Watch for now.
Features from the Apple Watch SE
The Apple Watch SE is waterproof, which means it's okay to go use it in the shower, in a swimming pool, or if you're running when it's raining. But other than the watch's waterproof superpowers, the watch has an upgraded basic heart rate monitor but there is no blood oxygen sensor built into the watch . The screen is 30% larger and is two times faster than the Series 3. The Apple Watch SE uses the S5 chip, but has a shorter loading loading time than the Apple Watch Series 6 with its S6 chip, but the loading time differences are less than one second.
The Apple Watch SE can be paired to your iPhone or set up for a family member who doesn't have an iPhone using Family Sharing. The Watch itself can connect to WiFi or personal hotspots.
The Apple Watch SE also supports cellular, so when you're away from your phone or not connect to WiFi, you can still connect to the Internet from wherever you are. This means you can call and text from wherever you are. Cellular on your watch is perfect if you're going on a hike, nature walk, or jog. You can listen to music, download run programs from the Nike Run app, and use Apple Maps to find your way around town. I have cellular on my watch and it's helpful when I go running every week. I've even called, texted, and used Apple Pay using cellular on my watch. Note that you can still call for emergency services from wherever you are, even if you don't have a cellular plan. |
Who Should Have an Apple Watch SE?
Many Apple Watch SE reviews I've seen grouped the SE into a category for kids, but in my opinion, I think the Apple Watch SE is not the kid-friendly watch. The Apple Watch SE would make a great watch for teens and adults who are considering about getting an Apple Watch for the first time or upgrading from their old Apple Watch Series 3. And the SE would be the best choice because it sits in between the Series 3 and the Series 7. But in conclusion, the SE does all the things you need to do: tracking your sleep, monitoring your heart rate, workouts, checking the time and weather, calling, and texting.
