Nintendo has officially announced today in a tweet and on YouTube that it will be delaying Breath of the Wild 2 to sometime in Spring 2023. Eiji Aonuma stated that the development team need a bit more time to bring some more features to the game: We previously announced that we were aiming for a 2022 release for this game. However, we have decided to extend our development time a bit and change the release to Spring 2023. For those of you who have been looking forward to a release this year, we apologize. Not only did Eiji Aonuma disappoint me, but he did mention briefly that there will be more adventures, new areas, and new game mechanics for players to experience next year. New Footage Has Been Revealed Nintendo also showed brief teaser footage showing Link, a yellow ball of energy, and the Master Sword. And the most important thing to note is that the Master Sword appears to be in a damaged state far worse than what it was during the beginning of the Calamity. One theory I have is that the yellow energy is actually a reference to the Sacred Flames you can find in Skyward Sword, and maybe Link has to give the Master Sword some sort of "rebirth." More Will Be Posted Soon Right now, there has been only a glimpse of new footage and a great deal of updates to the release date of Breath of the Wild 2, but check back for more updates.
