Over the past few weeks since the beginning of the year, more and more iPhone 14 rumors have spread across many different tech blogs on the
Internet. One of the features not mentioned much about the iPhone 14 is whether it will support both a physical SIM card and eSIM, or one of both.
Many published rumors, including some facts from GlobalData, have suggested that 2022 is the year Apple will released an eSIM-only iPhone and that there will be a version of the iPhone 14 that will support physical SIM/ eSIM. But I want to share my thoughts and opinions about what path
Apple may take.

What Is eSIM?
To better understand what an eSIM actually is, you need to understand what the standard physical SIM card is. The SIM card is what you use to put
into your phone to have access to any cellular network with your cellular provider. It's basically the VIP card for iPhone that gives you the thumbs up
to access cellular networks.
An eSIM, on the other hand, follows the same concept as the physical SIM card but it's electronic. It's literally in the name: electronic-SIM. And, in theory, an eSIM can better help you set up your cellular plan with your cellular provider.

It's Too Early for an eSIM-only iPhone
Apple may not release an eSIM-only iPhone just yet. Many people still walk around with older iPhones that don't support eSIM and it can be hard for
some people to switch to eSIM if they ever do decide to get the iPhone 14. Or maybe Apple will decide to release two different models of each of the
four different iPhone 14 models that support physical SIM and physical SIM/ eSIM. We'll most likely see an eSIM-only iPhone 15, 16, or 17 in the coming years, but right now Apple has to announce with product that is convenient for its consumers and its profit.
